WNCAP joins the world in outrage over the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, and countless others at the hands of police officers. Black lives matter.

HIV/AIDS disproportionately impacts the Black community. African Americans—many of whom serve as essential workers—are also disproportionately hurt by the pandemic and its economic fallout.

Limited access to unbiased healthcare and living wages are disparities that reveal systemic racism in our society.

Police brutality and the over-policing of communities of color are manifestations of the same problem, and WNCAP condemns such injustices in all their forms. It is unconscionable that our fellow Americans not only endure systemic oppression, but are murdered in broad daylight by those who are supposed to “protect and serve” our communities.

We can and must do better.

WNCAP is committed to serving as an ally to communities of color. We vow to use our positional power to amplify voices that have been historically underrepresented in the field of HIV/AIDS and to incorporate anti-racist and anti-sexist practices across all aspects of our work.

We vow to continue to partner with other grassroots organizations and leaders who advocate for reforms to our deeply flawed system, including equitable access to healthcare, and equal protection under the law.

We grieve with our fellow Americans and join them in demanding justice.
